EGHAM TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB NEWS

EGHAM WIN AT SANDHURST

Egham Town's Lee Pearce was the hero in the 3-1 win yesterday at Bottom Meadow, home of 4th placed Sandhurst Town. The Fizzers had beaten us 5-2 at the Runnymede Stadium in a match which was not at all reflected in the lopsided scoreline. An instinctive finish by Adam Foulser gave Pearce a lead to defend, which he did with an excellent custodial display in the first half. After the home side had threatened to get back into it in the second half,  leading scorer Matt Graves linked with Foulser for the midfielder to net with a clever finish before a surging run from Anthony Oaks set up Graves for his 16th goal of the season, 14 in the league (and our 50th league goal this season). The Berkshire side pulled on back late on through Allsop. Zak the dog was suitably impressed.

FORTHCOMING FIXTURES

Egham's win at Colliers Wood United in the Surrey Senior Cup on Wednesday sets up another trip, on Tuesday to Chipstead of Ryman One South. On Saturday we entertain Bedfont, who lost in midweek to Sandhurst, and whom we have already met, winning 4-1.

Egham face Croydon, the match postponed because of the t rip to Chipstead on Tuesday, on 13 April.  The winners of the County Cup tie have the thrilling prospect of facing AFC Wimbledon at home. Registration problems on the part of the Wombles saw Egham miss out on this fixture a couple of seasons ago, so this should be added incentive at Chipstead.
